Relisten was first launched in 2013. The goal remains the same – to make the ever growing corpus of recorded live music as accessible as possible. Allow me some highfalutin latitude here: I believe that live music and improvisation is a moment of extreme presence, and in that present is a connection to the infinite.
What began as an exclusively Grateful Dead streaming platform has now grown to support over 4,000 bands. We have apps for Android, iOS, and Sonos.
Relisten is completely non-commercial, open source, and free. We never added user accounts or logins because we genuinely don't want your personal data. Though we're considering adding it in the future to unlock playlists and other features - if so, it'll be as unobtrusive as possible.
Alec and I have put thousands of hours into maintaining the platform over the past decade, and as we continue to develop it we figured it was time to create a blog to share some stories, data, and analysis. So here's the Relisten blog.
As always, if you have any interest in contributing to the Relisten codebase, or you have some feedback for us, please stop by our Discord and say hello!
Thanks for helping shape and use the platform for the past decade. Here's to the next one.
