View NotesPlayers: Charles Atkins - keyboards and vocals The Blues Boys Larry Laseur - harmonica Harty Wiedemann - guitar Tom Henning - guitar Notes: Not much to say - starts out with Charles solo on that wonderful 88 key Rhodes. Could hardly lift it tho; I had to strap it's 5 foot case to a 2x8 that had casters and then wheel it in to gigs. These practice sessions took place at Tom's studio, which Tom had been steadily improving from a playroom with pool table and juke to the high-tech professional set up it is now. Charles was very comfortable in there - great PA, his Rhodes, good vocal mics & our soundboard all set up. Having been out a week, Charles got right to it and nailed some material he had been working on. It's an odd mix of songs: After the Storm was recently written after a big storm we had; followed by the blues derivation of "Rollin Pin"; then right into gospel and on to some jumping blues and then to the dirge-like All We Need Is Love. However, the recording is not too good from track 9 onward as the guitars start up, too loud in the mix, too many wrong notes. Charles is having fun tho, playing with his band, getting all in the groove. Lots of energy! You Can Make It!
