View NotesThe JLB 2020 election year run of First Tuesdays continues with a wild Super Tuesday show that took place on March 3, 2020 in Secondlife and live at The Jedstead. Mark Gutenplan had to "suspend his campaign" for this show, but the JLB Trio of Jed, Kenny Kaufman and Pete Martine carry on in true MAJA fashion!

The show opens with a nod to Mark, as Jed takes over vocal duties on the Gutenplan penned "Remember This Night." The band let's us know they are truly here to Make America Jam Again, as they launch instantly into a lenghty jam that finds it's way into the bluesy Jed tune "Queen Lucille." It being Super Tuesday, there's alot of attention paid to the primary race, and a few endorsements by the band, but they soon get back to rocking with Jed's historical song about the John Brown uprising, which also spawns a nice jam. Emerging from the smoke is the poignant "Smile Forever," which Jed delivers on the piano in Mark's absence. K-Man finally takes the mic to lead the band through an energetic "Saw Mill River," which not only features a wicked middle jam, but also extends to nearly twenty minutes with a multi-pronged improv. The jam winds it's way into the set closer, a JLB debut of Jed's dark and heavy "Side Door," sure to be a great addition to the repetoire.

Second set opens more typically, with the jam rocker "Give It Back," which does not disappoint, producing the longest improv of the night at twenty-two minutes. Jed fills in Mark's absence with multi-loops, keys and theramins through the evening, producing a nice full sound in some of the jams. The heavenly "Listen To The Angels" emerges and the band breaks it down nicely into prayer-like vocalization. Jed continues tossing new songs into the mix at this show, with the JLB debut of his pop-rocker "Nothing's Ever Free" which is a bit shaky but will probably be a fun song in future. The group abandons it pretty quickly in favor of one last improv jam with a nice transition into "Old Town Hall," another Jed blues tune that the band has performed a few times before and is definitely a fun, energetic number. A fast-paced, out of breath version of the bluegrassy "Forgot To Forget You" closes out the second frame with an exclamation point. They tack on one last encore, the only cover song of the night, appropriately "U.S. Blues," by the Grateful Dead.

This is rockin show from the JLB Trio with all the members pitching in to carry the load and create two sets of original music and intense jams on a Super Tuesday night full of wild energy. Enjoy!
