THERE IS ALSO A 24 BIT FILE SET AVAILABLE. 22nd Annual Avila Beach Blues Festival Other Acts Included: Shemekia Copeland (Opening Set) Bonnie Raitt (Headliner) JJ Grey - Vocals, Guitar, Harp, And Tambourine Andrew Trube - Electric Guitar Anthony Farrell – Keyboards And Backing Vocals Todd Smallie - Bass Anthony Cole - Drums And Backing Vocals Jeff Dazey - Tenor Saxophone Dennis Marion - Trumpet And Tambourine ONT Notes- This was the second set of the 22nd Annual Avila Beach Blues Festival. The crowds, for the most part, were still being very subdued and calm. The young couple in front of me, who brought in a fistful of beer, stayed for the opening set and then vanished for JJ Grey’s set and also for Bonnie’s set. Weird. (The drunks came out for the Bonnie Raitt set.) I’d never seen JJ Grey & Mofro before. I remember thinking at the show that JJ’s voice reminded me of Paul Thorn. They are both Southerners, and have a similar dialect. (I have recorded Paul Thorn before and tried to get him to agree to be added to the Live Music Archive, but as of yet no such luck.) The weather in Avila Beach was beautiful, with a slight breeze in the air. The wool cap makes for a good windscreen, but there were occasional gusts that can be heard. I got my ticket to the festival at the last minute, as there are three people who are higher in the pecking order. Fortunately for me, not for them, two couldn’t make it. One was in the hospital with a kidney stone and one was home with a bad back. I had to scrounge for 9 volts before I left the house, not having time to stop to buy new ones, and ended up using previously used batteries from other recordings. Do NOT Convert To MP3. Enjoy! Share freely, don’t sell, play nice, don’t run with scissors, etc. ;)
