This is the audio track of an incomplete video from the Fall 1997 tour, shortly before the release of "Songs for a Dead Pilot". The visuals on the video are OK, but the audio is a surprisingly good hi-fi stereo recording. I've been meaning to transfer and upload it for a while now, especially since it features a couple of uncommon songs like Hey Chicago. However, extracting the audio proved to be a major hassle since hi-fi tracks are often finicky, and often require a higher-end VCR to play them back without dropouts and "hi-fi noise". It was also one of three concerts on a T-160 VHS tape, and the longer tape length (and thinner tape stock) probably didn't help matters. The mono audio track isn't half as good, so getting the hi-fi was a must. Once I had access to a VCR that got along with my tape, there were other technical difficulties that ensued. I won't go into the details, but suffice to say that it took some doing to get a clean copy of this recording -- among other things, I had to push a button on the VCR every 58 seconds or else the audio would drop out. Shame is cut at the beginning, and Lust is just a teaser, since they decide to play Violence first. The recording cuts right after Violence, and you can hear the first notes of Lust as it fades out. No idea why the taper stopped recording, but at least we have what we do. This recording hasn't been traded much at all, so it should be new to most people. Don't expect DAT quality, and there's the odd bit of crackling or distortion, but overall it's quite good, with an audience that's mostly quiet (though things get noisier during Violence). I hope this upload gives someone out there who attended the show the chance to hear it again!
