Neumann TLM-170 (hypercardoids, FOB almost parallel to right PA, about 15' from stage) -> Sound Devices 722 (@24/96); FLAC File processing in SoundForge Audio Studio 10.0c (volume normalization; resample to 44.1 with iZotope 64-Bit SRC set higher than "Highest Quality" setting w/anti-alias filter; 24->16 bit dither using iZotope MBIT+ Dither with Ultra noise shaping, High dither settings; a bit of minor nearby clap removal); Tracked in CDWav.
Taper Notes:
View NotesScrubbed some annoying local clappers from T2 (some idiot decided to clap right into the mics 18 times right at the beginning of the song), T10 (3 claps), T11 (4), T19 (10) Based on the stage setlist, the band had planned (and then cut) "Sing A Simple Song" between "Windjammer" and "Little Wing", "Something" (assuming The Beatles) and "Ain't It Funky Now" between "Scratchitti" and "You Don't Know Nothing About Love", and they swapped "I'd Rather Go Blind" and "D'Yer Maker" and the "Freaking (reprise)" and "While My Guitar..." I wouldn't have minded hearing Warren sing "Something"! :) Core band: Marco Benevento - keys (and vocals on T2 & T21) Joe Russo - drums Ron Johnson - bass Eddie Roberts - guitar + = just Marco, Alecia, and Joe ^ = w/Eric Krasno - guitar * = w/Warren Haynes - guitar, vocals % = w/Scott Metzger - guitar # = w/Alecia Shakur @ = without Eddie Roberts This was the headlining set from night 2 of the 12th annual NYC Freaks' Ball. There was an opening set by Scott Metzger, Eric Deutsch, Haga Ben-Ari, and Joe Russo (who did double duty, playing the drums for both bands!) which is available here: http://www.archive.org/details/metzgerfb2012-01-21.tlm170.flac16 Recorded, mastered, tracked and posted by Scott Bernstein 1/28-31/2012 There is a higher quality 24 bit version of this recording (coming shortly) at http://www.archive.org/details/metzgerfb2012-01-21.tlm170.flac24 Follow me on Twitter to track my near-daily postings of FREE live music and concert photography: http://www.twitter.com/scott_bernstein Or become a "fan" on Facebook here: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Scott-Bernsteins-Live-Music-Photos-Page/166706713365451 Check out my photo album from this show:

12th Annual NYC Freaks Ball 2012-01-21
