--this venue opened on 1929-11-08, was designed by Portland architect Herbert W.Rhodes to be a creative combination of Spanish, Italian, and Art Deco aesthetics with elaborate works of art & originally containing 2,300 seats...for a while after 1963 it fell on hard financial times & became a porn theater, but that came to an end in 1990...it reopened on 1993-11-20...it closed its doors again in 2006 due to financial issues, then reopened (after an extensive renovation & repairs) in 2010-10 as a 1,870 seat performing arts venue
