"Cuzin' Al's Bluegrass Show" Cuzin' Al's Bluegrass Show was a long-running radio program, well-loved by bluegrass fans in the Santa Cruz area and around Monterey Bay. The program was first broadcast in 1970 on KTAO (Los Gatos), but became more widely known after moving to the legendary KFAT (Gilroy). After KFAT changed its format to classic rock in 1983, the show was off the air for a while, but in 1985 it was back on the air on KHIP (Hollister). KHIP had adopted the KFAT format and became home to much of the KFAT on-air talent. In 1987 much of that talent, including Cuzin' Al, ended up on the new station KPIG (Freedom, near Watsonville). His show is often credited with being the first radio show to be webcast live on the internet, as KPIG went on-line in 1995. Cuzin' Al was on KPIG until his last broadcast in 2016. In addition to playing bluegrass recordings, both the classics and newer material, the show often hosted bluegrass bands for live preformances in the KPIG studio. In February 2001, StrungOver!, still a fairly new band at the time, got their chance to impress Cuzin' Al's audience with this brief set of music. StrungOver! - Michael Thurman (guitar, vocals) - Hugh Broughton (bass, vocals) - Jeremy Lampel (mandolin, vocals) - Jason Lampel (banjo)
