Not sure who updates all the various Yonder setlist sites, etc. but I have a pair of shows that trump what is currently listed as "The First Known Yonder Show." I thought some of 
you might want to know....

While looking at the Oct. 16, 1998 Pioneer Inn show on Archive.org I saw it was called the "first known" show. Since I have been the music editor at the Nederland paper since well before Yonder's time, I checked my archives and found two shows listed ahead of the the PI one. In fact, when I wrote about the band playing at the PI on Oct. 16 I said it was their "third appearance" under the "new" name of Yonder Mountain String Band. The two shows before that are also listed as the "debut appearance" and "second appearance" under the YMSB name. The band also continued to pick at the weekly Wednesday night bluegrass jam at The Verve (the old Suisse Chalet, then New Potato then Verve and currently the Black Forest Inn) at this time, at least until the longer tours started in 99.

First shows (as printed in back and white in Nederland paper):
1. Yonder Mountain String Band - Sat. Sept. 26 Acoustic Coffee House, Ned (debut show)
2. Yonder Mountain String Band - Friday Oct. 9 The Verve, Ned
3. Yonder Mountain String Band - Friday Oct. 16 Pioneer Inn, Ned (called "earliest known"
